My not-so-general favourite subgenres are shoegaze, grunge, britpop, alternative rock, medieval metal, symphonic metal, rock n roll, gothic, psychedelic, techno, eurodance, gloomy.
I am a huge fan of collecting CDs! You could call me a connoisseur. I mainly get them from thirft stores/flea markets, local bookstores, CD sales and, of course, pirating (just find a torrent of your chosen song/album then burn it on a CD-R(W). Easy peasy.
